SINGAPORE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT INDUSTRY DIRECTORY 2020/2021
Our industry is increasingly challenged by a faster pace of change, be it in digital transformation or the growing intense competition mainly due to
the low barriers of entry. The Environmental Management Association of Singapore (EMAS) strives to uplift the industry’s professionalism by working closely with industry stakeholders such as the National Environment Agency (NEA), Workforce Singapore (WSG), Enterprise Singapore (ESG) as well as the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) to create a robust ecosystem that is progressive and forward looking in helping chart the future of the environmental services sector.
Representing EMAS, I am also a member of the Public Hygiene Council, Tripartite Clusters for Cleaners and Deputy Chairman of the Cleaning Sectoral Tripartite Committee. EMAS endeavors to provide knowledge and technical expertise for our valued members in continuing to organize seminars and training events. Our most recent collaboration with Republic Polytechnic offered joint courses on PPE and Disinfection in an effort to help equip our cleaning industries’ frontliners with the latest skills and knowledge needed to battle the virus during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the spirit of continuous learning, we are also in the process of curating a specialist Disinfection Course to help elevate skillsets to the next level.
EMAS will continue to uphold its mission of providing a cohesive platform for companies in the environmental services industry to address the common challenges within the industry as well as to raise professional

standards across the board. This pursuit is further manifested by regular dialogues with NEA, WSG and the Building Construction and Timber Industries Employees’ Union (BATU). It would encompass EMAS’ recent role in its support of the tripartite advisory’s recommendations on sector sustainability, with the intent of helping guide fair practices on the treatment of frontline cleaners as well as mitigate discussions between service buyers and providers regarding contractual obligations during this COVID-19 situation.
Through various communication platforms such as webinars and dialogue sessions, EMAS further aims to facilitate the sharing of trending information and cutting- edge ideas as well as help foster a unified voice that represents the pulse of the industry.
We will constantly strive to deliver incremental value-add to our members through various initiatives so that as thought leaders and industry players, we can tap on our collective strength as we navigate and steer our organizations in the post-COVID world towards sustainable growth.
